This week I refined the design of the cut-out to make it slimmer and more reminiscent of the worm and less armored-looking. I also raised the limbs to be more three-dimensional and added the battery lights in the positions that they appear on the creature.
I took pictures of the model in different lightings with different lights on to see the effects it gives. The body rungs help diffuse the blue light through the entire body, mimicking the way that the light extends through the translucent body of the plankton worm, while isolating the yellow spots on the parapodia of the worm, which stands out in the undersea world, where there isn't much yellow light, and is probably used to distract/confuse predators.
In the next week I will add the UV paint on some parts to see how it compliments and works with or can replace the battery lights.
