Three-toed Sloth - Final Update!

This week, I finished up my painting! Mostly, what I had left to do was layering paint over and over again on the sloth to build up its fur texture and color. I also added a little more detail and shading to the fruit and leaves surrounding the sloth. My final step was adding the little moths living in the sloth’s fur as well.

Here's a short video I made where you can watch me work on this painting throughout the past month:

Here’s my final piece! I worked to include the following adaptations into the composition:

  • Long, curved claws

  • Water-wicking fur

  • Moth and algae camouflage

  • Long arms for reaching branches and food

  • Leaves they can digest using their multi-chambered stomach

I had so much fun working on this project, and I learned a lot! Thank you for following along! Feel free to follow me on social media @art_by_meredith or check out my website, meredithlynnart.com, to see more of my work.
