For this next update I focused heavily on figuring out the logistics of how I wanted the bird and cactus to coexist within the image. Here I have a finalized sketch of how I want the cactus wren depicted in what specific pose to keep the anatomical structure of the bird accurate to its natural form. For the cactus, I elected to have a colorful under painting that will shine through with subsequent layers of gouache on top. For the structural elements, I have added multiple different saguaro cacti in the background to have a varied and involved landscape as to not have the symbiotic relationship in an isolated environment.
