Survivwar- week 2

I re-named Organism vs. Organism. That name was too straight up Spy vs. Spy and too wordy. Not sure about this one either. "Survivwar", like a survivor-war portmanteau. I definitely want it punny or alliterative. Eh, work in progress, we'll see.

Anyways.

Hi! I'm Eve. If you didn't see my last post I'm making comic pages on evolutionary arms races. This week I've been researching more of my three instances of war.

!!Rough-skinned newt vs. Garter Snake!!

!!Moth vs. Bat!!

!!Army ant vs. three parasites!!

Here are some links to the info.

I also did several drawing studies of the animals from pictures on google to get a feel on how to draw them and how to simplify them for the comics.

Snakes are so cute I have no idea why they're one of the main "scary" animals. They're just tubes with a :3 face.

I also started planning the comic layout and writing the script. This is the thumbnail version of "Poisonous Predicament"! The first part of our delightful evolutionary journey. At this stage I don't really care about spelling, or good drawing, or neat lines. This is just about getting the ideas on the page in a way that future me will be able to know what to draw on the nice paper, as opposed to my sketchbook. I draw it in one long sequence with little thought as to panel size and shape. On the side I wrote out the script and drew the actual, more interesting panel layout with more varied storytelling than just three same-sized panels like in the strip.

So there's that! This next week I'm going to do thumb nailing for the other two and start sketching on the fancy paper.
