Seadragons Update 3

Seadragons Update #3

This week I began working on the final artwork for my project. This first piece will show how leafy seadragons eat. They create suction to funnel organisms such as mysid shrimp, larval fish, and plankton into their mouths and down their long snout. They do not possess teeth or even a stomach. I felt that depicting this required some sort or movement in the work so I am now in the process of creating this looping animated gif of a seadragon sucking its prey up like a vacuum cleaner.

The animation is 9 frames long in total, and the wiggling outline of the seadragon loops every 3 frames. In order to line up properly, these frames of the animation needs to be a factor of the total number of frames in the whole animation loop, which is why I chose 3. Now that I have the movement down, the next step is to simply color and finalize each frame.
