Fun facts that I learned about Maned Wolves this week:
Important omnivore, fruit and vegetables accounts for a third to one-half of a maned wolf’s diet. They love loberia fruit so much that it is also called a “wolf’s apple”
Their pee smells like marijuana. This has an incredibly distinct smell and they use this to mark buried prey or places they hunt.
Maned wolves are the largest members of the canid family in South America.
They do not howl, but instead have loud barks to let their mate know where they are, and to warn other wolves to stay away.
Maned wolves do not hunt in packs, they are mostly solitary.
