Feeling Green: How Plants Can Improve Mental/Physical Health

*Week 4 Update*

Meghan Kasper

Hello Again!

I spent the majority of this week just working on my project again. It is still moving slower than I would like it to be, but I am definitely making progress. I think another factor adding to the slow progress of this project is honestly the fact that I am burnt out and not really loving what I have for the project at the moment. When this usually happens to me, I just typically give up and start over, but recently I have been trying to stick with the pieces I hate and finish them to see if I can get a result that I actually like. So, especially because of the time restrictions I have right now, I am going to keep going with this piece.

The materials that I'm using are still the same as well and now that I have a solid process, I thought that I would share that as well and include some photos of my work so far along with my materials...

Process:
     - start off with a light layer of oil pastel on the velvet board
*usually one solid color --> I don't really overlap
colors at first because the texture can become too much
and the oil pastel will clump off
     - then I start to alternate between colored pencils and oil
pastels and build up my colors
*colored pencil does not really work well without at
least a small layer of oil pastel under it
     - keep doing this until you get the desired texture and final
       image

Progress and Materials:
This is what I have done so far

This is a photo I took while I was in the process of working

And this is the final image of my desk with some of my materials set out

Thank you for coming back again to follow along and I hope you come back again for my next post :)

(Also I attached some pictures I took below of the gorgeous spring time in Boston/my hometown this week in honor of Earth day which was 4/22/21)
