Feeling Green: How Plants Can Improve Mental/Physical Health
*Week 3 Update*
Meghan Kasper
Welcome Back!
Since I finished most of my research last week, I have spent a majority of my time working on my project this week. It has been a really fun process using the oil pastel and colored pencil on velvet board. I haven't done a project using those materials in a long time and they are my absolute favorites to work with, so creating something with them again has been really fun.
Unfortunately, the project is taking a bit longer to do than I had originally thought, so I am a little behind where I initially wanted to be, but I am making progress (as you can see in the picture below)...
I started out by getting a few main shapes down so that I could really have an understanding of where I wanted the placement of things. After that, I started layering a few colors and various textures so that I could see what colors would and wouldn't work over the black velvet. Finally, I started to go in with finer details and precise colors. You can see I was really focusing on the plant on the bottom mainly.
The materials I am using for reference are listed below...
1. Black colored velvet board (don't know the specific
brand)
2. Prismacolor Colored Pencils - set of 150
3. Sakura Cray-Pas Specialist Oil Pastels - set of 36
Also, now that signs of spring are showing (with all of the greenery coming back to life and blooming buds), I have been spending extra time outside and taking it all in. I am still waiting for the weather to warm up, but that didn't stop me from seeing some beautiful nature around Boston and my hometown and taking some pictures of it all (I included some down below).
Thank you for following along with me on this project and I hope you'll come back again for my next update! :)
