Emily Morgan - Family Roots
So far in my Family Roots project I’ve been working out the techniques I’m going to use to create my artwork, as it will use a variety of media in many ways. I’ve decided that wire is the way to go for creating the shape of the begonia leaves, and that I will paper mache and paint over that! You can see the variety of leaf shapes I’ve begun to shape, and there will be many more!
Begonia fun fact: They don’t technically have petals! They just have colored sepals, which is this part of the plant-

Here is a sketch showing how I want to arrange the paper mache begonia leaves together on the canvas panel, and how I want to tie the roots together.
Here is the start of the paper mache begonias! I’m starting off by creating a wire armature over which I’ll drape the paper mache.
